Once again, this was a brilliant occasion. Many thanks to all those who helped to organise, set up and run the party. Special thanks to those who helped tidy up!
A few people asked where any money raised from these events goes, so here is a quick explanation. First of all, most of our events (disco trains and parties) do not set out to raise a huge amount of money. However, by raising a small amount each time, we are able to improve both the quality of the entertainment and the ease by which it is produced.
The best example of the power of this fundraising is the decks, amp and speakers which we use for parties. This is high quality equipment - even the 'decks' are operational on a moving train! If you haven't seen this, have a look next time - you may be surprised how good it is. Recent purchases have included new lighting and mundane consumables such as smoke fluid.
In the future we hope to make the setting up/dismantling easier for those who run these events by working on our equipment - 59 van may be fitted, a generator may be purchased. Further donations also help us to improve the 'disco' itself - donations may enable us to buy more varied lighting, better effects etc.
So, next time you are attending one of these highly enjoyable, UNIQUE events, which has been fully organised by volunteers for your benefit (the amount of work involved is HUGE!), and are asked to donate to this fund please do so willingly. Please be sure that this small donation will contribute to keep your FR social life so varied and wonderful! Several hundred pounds was raised just on 31st December 2002 simply from your small generosity. A little does go a long way...
