We hope everyone comes to the railway because they enjoy the work, but thefun doesn't stop at the end of the working day. The FR has a great sociallife - something for everyone. Many people enjoy meeting up in Spooners or one of the other pubs inPortmadoc for dinner or a drink in the evenings. Parties (usually involvinga special train) are a regular feature, especially at the Easter and Augustbank holiday weekends, and for the less active, the parks and gardensdepartment often runs special evening trains which are less boisterous andtimed to suit those with family. Of course the social life doesn't have to end at the end of your visit.Groups of friends from the FR often meet up in other parts of the countryand friendships made on the FR often lead into other hobbies and interestswhich have nothing to do with railways. |
With eating out being a popular social activity, one of the railway's volunteershas compiled this guide to the pubs and restaurants around Portmadoc. |
Fancy dress has become a popular theme for the Easter party. Click here for some pictures of recent fancy dress parties. |
With a floor area of less than 200 square feet, we believe we have the worlds smallestfully mobile disco! A gallery of pictures showing the disco both being set up and in actionwill be appearing here soon. |
A party is always held for the New Year, when many volunteers are at the railway. Some notes from the party held 31st Dec 2002 are available here. |
