Have you ever wanted to be a train driver? Sell tickets to passengers? Or just paint a few walls whilst watching the train go by? Well, now is your chance!

Well, not quite. Unfortunately you can't start training to be a driver until you're 16, and even then it takes at least five years of hard work. But we can give you the chance to spend a week away from your parents (yippee!), having a great time (yippee again!) whilst making lots of new friends. And you get the bonus of doing it all on an active railway with trains going past all day.

Kids' Training Week is when the Ffestiniog Railway lets you have a go. Some of the jobs are deadly boring, but at least once you've finished the painting we give you something else to do so you don't have to watch the paint dry! You'll get the chance to try many different jobs and we'll give you as much variety as we can, and you'll be doing it all with other people your own age and having fun at the same time.

But it's not all work. During the evenings there's a great social life. Special trains up the line, football on the beach, barbecues, slide shows, there's never a dull moment. And even if you arrive on the Saturday without knowing anybody, by the end of the week you'll go home with loads of new friends to spend your mum's phone bill on.

Even better, you don't need to worry about where you're staying or what you're eating. We do all that for you. Whether it's in one of our hostels or in somebody's house, we'll find you a bed and give you food at regular intervals. Alternatively, if you're staying with your parents and just want to get away from them during the day, you can do that too!

Unfortunately, we do have some simple rules to follow. If you want to come and work without your parents, you do have to be aged at least 13. If you're not 13 but really want to join in, persuade your parents to come for a holiday and help on Kids' Training Week with you! Ask them to contact us to see whether we can fit you in. Finally, remember that railways are dangerous places. We want everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves, so for everybody's safety we expect you to be sensible and well behaved throughout the week. But that shouldn't be difficult when you're enjoying yourself so much!

If you want to come along, first ask your parents! If they say yes, you can fill in the booking form and you will be sent more information.
